That makes one of us. I want off the goddamn thing but if I’m not tracking steps, I might have to, I dunno, actually do cardio?
broseph wrote: Thu Jan 05, 2023 2:24 pm I'm tired of dreading squats. They never feel right; knees often hurt, hip flexors always hurt, and sometimes it seems like my hips simply refuse to be flexible. Every other lift I do, I can perform the movement correctly on the first warmup, but not squats. They'll sometimes start feeling "ok" by the time I get to the work sets, but never as well greased as literally any other exercise.

I value squat strength, unfortunately, so not squatting is a tough pill to swallow. And lifting at home, I don't have many other leg options beside variants of the squat. And variants often hurt more than regular squats.
Yeah. Same. Bench too - literally no bench rep is the same as any other rep - and squat/bench are the two things that I value. I mostly fixed all of my squat form issues with pauses and have been LPing paused squats, but with the corrected form has come a reemergence of a vicious left hip issue that I had years ago. It’s this dull but often excruciating ache that never really goes away entirely. I really don’t want to stop the LP, but I keep thinking of a wise man’s words:

@DCR Dude, I was literally just in the “board quotes” thread and saw that, and thought of my recent complaining…

1 hour hike this morning, which earned me a big tasty breakfast out. Might as well put that midday bloat to use and squat...

Squat 350x10x1
(85%, H=444)
These actually felt pretty decent. Maybe I just need to decrease my overall low bar volume?

Deadlift 285x21
I was going for 1.5xBW x 20 as per @augeleven's challenge. I filmed it to make sure I actually got 20, and video replay showed an extra rep. For your overachievement.

These banded landmine squats are getting awful close to FHOOLING AROUND IN THE GHYM

Honestly though they look like something I'd put some squat wedges on and I could see them being murder on quads.

Lol, as long as I get tired and sweaty!

But yeah, they definitely look like the heels should be elevated. I've been doing them in flats, so next time I'll wear heels.

You could turn around, put the bar sleeve on one shoulder, and do "hack squats." I wonder if using a box like you to better position it might be good, getting it up and down from the ground right now is a pain.

I have this weird thing where I can't stand when an exercise is difficult in any other aspect than the "purpose" of the movement.

It drives me crazy that you're not strapping your RDL's.

Low stress super speedy triples. For your mini peak.

I made these easier too.. mostly due to laziness.

I used to just lift the bar by the sleeve to load plates for deadlift, since it added some extra grip and lat work...

Bodyweight back up to 191#

Bench 295x2, 315x1, 335x1, 355x2@10:

1st rep seemed to fly, 2nd almost died.

225x 18, 14, 12

Chins BW+115x1, 135x1, 160x1:

These sure look silly as singles. I focus on "sinking into" the start position from standing on the rig, so I get a little stretch reflex boost.

BW x 20, 16, 16

1/15/23

Squat 365x1, 385x1, 405x2

Deadlift 455x1, 475x1, 495xF
My deadlift has been extremely fickle the past few months; some days it's strong, some days it's gone. I don't know if I'm missing my timing with fatigue and 1RM's, or if I'm just half-assing my work, or if something more complex is at play.

This one?

I still use Pandora a lot since their algorithm seems to work really well, and I keep my stations meticulously pure. This song came up on my Combichrist station, which is mostly aggrotech but also some electronica.
