Who is on a cut?

What's a carb? A car part? What's a macro? A type of camera lens?

Barely above 200lbs this morning.

Was at 2,600 down to 2,400 cals daily for a week before deciding to seriously cut for DOTS score, when i was just thinking of trimming some weight but staying a light -100kg class.
210 pounds was the heaviest i got on this bulk.
I think i had very slowly started losing weight already, but don't remember exactly when i started "Maincutting"

I'm getting a bulk of the pain of this cut out of the way fast before the weights get much heavier in this prep, and then i'll slow the roll and see how much below 90kg i can get without impacting my target numbers.
Went 9 days in the 2,000s
5 days from 1,900 down to 1,800
2 days 1,775, 1,725
And the last three days at 1,650.
Was stuck at 201 pounds am weight for 6 days.

Today was deadlifts, and i ate a little extra this morning, thinking i'd end up just under 2k calories.
But after i was done with deadlifts, i decided to just skip my pasta, and i'll be at 1,700 at the end of the day.

**199 pounds this morning.
Gettin' there.

Less than 5 pounds for more than 1 inch? That's pretty good.

Currently away from home and using the scale I found in the AirBnB. It's digital.

This thing is ridiculously inconsistent. I can step on, get a reading, then stop off and do it again and the next reading will diverge by a pound.

Are analog scales just better or is this a particularly bad digital scale?

It’s just a bad scale. Or low on battery?

I got a digital scale intended for postage/luggage and it’s super consistent and sensitive. I’ve probably pimped this scale before here, but,

That is a bad scale, a decent digital is more reliable than an analog scale. Outside of a good balance beam scale that is.

Thanks! I’ll caveat that I probably had some acute post-Halloween bloat going on, but it’s still going well.

This cut has so far been my least miserable. I’m not doing anything magical, or different, than previous cuts; I’m just not constantly hungry all the time, which is great.

That one looks like what I’ve stepped on to weigh in at competitions. I’ve thought about getting one. Thanks for the pimp.

198 this morning, so i'm into the weight class.
Was 205 on Nov 7.

I'm going to keep up the steep deficit for a few more pounds.
Getting what i can before prep gets much heavier.
Then i'll slow it down or maintain, depending on performance.

I had peaked out at 210 this year, and was slowly "trimming" down before deciding to get light into the -90kg class.

Pretty much PSMF at this point.
was just over 1,400 cals day before yesterday, up to 1,700 yesterday, and just over 1,300 today, with a hilly 2 mile walk.
Sooner i get to 195, the sooner i can bring the calories up.

I'm guessing the batteries are low but I haven't seen the obvious signs of that.

Had half a pizza today.
440 calories, and my total for the day will still be just 1,700

Had $5 off a California Kitchen bbq chicken pizza.
Really nice psychological break during the cut.

197.5lbs this morning.

Wow. I'm doing 1900 calories at 162# current morning body weight and it feels pretty terrible by end of day.

I was concerned about deadlifts yesterday, because of the deep deficit, but they went great.

My motivation for the cut is based on DOTS points at the next meet, so i want to get closer to 190lbs, while still hitting my target weights.
Deads are heavier next week, but bodyweight isn't magically dropping a pound a day lol.
Gonna push my luck again this week and be around 1,350 until at least a day or two before next deadlifts.

Deads are the highest volume day, and i don't have any accessories at all that day.
End of December is probably as far as i can push the drastic deficit, so i'll get what i can and move closer to maintenance after.

As for not feeling hungry, i'm guessing my adaptations from 5 years straight full on keto were still pretty much in place.
And yesterday i got 60 grams carbs, so i'm likely in ketosis well before bed.
I finish eating by 3:30 pm these days, as i am going to bed at 9:30 each night, and stopping fluid intake that early allows me to sleep through better without having to wake up to pee.

There is definitely something to that. First keto run lasted for around 6 months for me I think. This time I am a little more flexible, especially around traiing days and the metabolism seems to finally be climbing. My calories are well up, but I was down again this morning. Trying to find maintenance so that I can be at it when I want and below it while cutting, I am suspicious that it is a moving target. I couldn't seem to lose at 2k cal before when I stopped cutting, now I am over 2k and losing slowly. I am working towards re-introducing an actual low carb quantity, like a cup of outmeal every morning, in the near future. The waist is shrinkingand the shoulders aren't, so I think the keto indeed helped reset the metabolism.

Starting to feel the need for some food.

Ending the ultra low portion of the cut, and going to hit 1,900 daily calories this week to see how the lifts respond.
Really bench is the only one i think may have started to show signs of an issue.
But i'll still be losing weight and this calorie amount.
I'm already in the -90kg weight class, but want to go as low as i can while still hitting my weight targets for the lifts.

Is your next competition going to be judged via DOTS?

Yes.
All masters together by DOTS

Trying not to place 3rd of 3.

This new guy 40 year old has 1st place sewn up unless he bombs
https://www.openpowerlifting.org/u/ryanmontague.

The other fellow is an M2.
We lifted together last March, and he was in -100kg weight class.
Then he did a summer meet as a -90kg and added 37.5kg to his total.
This meet he;s registered as a 82.5kg, and i have no idea how his training is going.

He's a doctor, so seems to have better things to do than post on IG. :D

I'll do all i can.

I'll still grab #6 ranking all years for USAPL M3a -90kg ragardless of how i place in the meet.
This will be my first meet as a -90kg
Been either -93kg or a light -100kg so far.

I'm actually grateful for some head to head competition however it plays out.
Adding a good chunk to my total will leave me feeling good, as that's the overarching goal.

Down 10 pounds now.
Started November 8th

195.5 am weight, 197 after 3 quarts total morning food, and coffee.
Blenderized oats, morning shake, and coffee.

So i'm well safe for weighing in -90kg
Now to get closer to 191.8lbs/87kg

Spent the last week at 2,000 to 2,100 calories, with what felt like a wise refeed of 2,300 yesterday after feeling weird doing round two of snow removal.
Seems like the deficit finally caught up with me with piling added exertion on top of lifting.
Was very busy all day Sunday dealing with the power outage.
Mostly just not fully relaxing for long as i was going out to monitor the generator, and fill it with fuel at one point.
But that on top of squats and actual snow removal.
The snowblower certainly helps, but there was still roof raking and secondary shovel work.

This was possibly the heaviest snowfall event since we moved here in 2011.
More has fallen in a shorter time, but this one just went on for over 2 days.

In any case, i'm sticking with 2,000 to 2,100 for another week to see how that moves the scale while sustaining my lifts.

I was also cutting after a holiday two months ago. From 91kg to 87kg. This is where i always tend to land. Propaply other strategies are needed for me to get leaner. But 87-88kg are relativley easy to hold with a little bit increased daily activity, just 3 meals and no snacks.
This is how i look then with anabolic ligth after an upper body day.
https://ibb.co/HGSv6tS
https://ibb.co/xH7nvz8

I think bodyfat is somewhere between 13-15%? So i think protein also does not need to be crazy high to prevent muscle loss.

Big problem for me is satiety. I am always amazed how long i have to wait after a meal till satiety kicks in and i feel full. I can eat big portions and don't feel full at all and after 30 minutes or so i start to feel full.
