Now I used what I will now call an intermediate size.

small was small 3"x8" crap

I used the 4"H x 12"L x 6"D ones.

You are talking the 6"H x 18"L x 12"D ones pretty sure.

That shit you are talking about is crazy, you might need a machine to move those around (100's of units).
OR .... some really specialized stuff, like a hand truck/dolly with floatation tires to move shit around "off-road".

All that said, they didn't a have those for sale in the store when I did mine ("off the shelf")... BUT I probably would've used those big ones if they were readily available.
Yeah, the 67#; I think it's Item #225260 Model #110813999 at Lowe's, but the ones they had in stock were a sandish brown color.

Thankfully, the wall I want to build with them first is just a few feet from the driveway, and yes, I'm crazy.
Its all about the prepping the subgrade of that first course, and then stacking that 1st course.

After that, its quite fun even though it laborsome.

With my ADHD, looking back on that, I can't believe I stacked all that shit. I need to find a picture. One of best works.

Right; I just imagine I’m playing with some heavy legos.

Any advice or links for a retaining wall made from random shaped stones (fussy missus) and mortar. It will be curved (90 degrees). About three feet above grade max near the middle. One end will taper down to zero in height. The other end will have a top that is horizontal, but the ground rises so that the wall height will taper to zero.

I think I'd have a fighting chance building a foundation and a low, straight wall. But besides the curve and tapers, this project will need drains and maybe anchors (built into the wall extending into the soil?), none of which I've done before.

Wife and daughter picking blackberries in the morning.
These were so easy to grow...basically a weed.
The thorns suck of course.

Quite tasty though ...

I'm going corn this summer.
The whole backyard has been reconfigured to grow food !

I have a couple blackberries that are doing really well this year, and I’d like to propagate more plants from them. Any tips or tricks?

Don't know. Googling it appears you can from stem or root cuttings.
I would just get some at the nursey.
If I had known that there was a thornless variety, I would've got those for sure (even if mail order).

These were in small plastic pots when I planted, and two completely died back to dry sticks due to foul weather after transplanting....
Cold spell then hot spell .... and just general transplant shock I guess.

I left them alone, and sure enough they re-sprouted up from the dead corpses ! Looks like they're fairly hardy ... I would think cuttings would be easy then.

I guess the plan is when they're done fruiting .... to heavily prune back to get the thorny bastards out of the way ...to access the planters behind (Okra there growing now)

It took a second to see that the bucket was elevated. Thought you had the blackberries on PEDs.

She just texted me: based on the green/unripe fruit still left, she thinks there is 3 times the amount (in the pic) left to be harvested.

I surprised the birds haven't taken-out more of them.

Do blackberries get over the problem of having too much of a good thing, all at once? (Like I had the time I grew watermelons with my kids.)

I tried the cardboard method several years ago, although just to make a flower bed from grass. Regretted not amending the soil, but you've solved that problem. Also I didn't like the height (raised relative to surrounding grass), but your borders solve that problem.

Now way into propagating plants through cuttings and in a few cases by division. I have about 30 hydrangea from last year growing well. And lots of daylillies from a handful of plants from a few years ago.

I have about another 50 hydrangea from cuttings this summer that have rooted well so far (about 40 macrophilla and about 10 Panicle hydrangea, which I think are patented!) Had about 70 laurel that rotted, then another try and barely have a handful that survived. Trying pachysandra with no success so far. Some (maybe 10%) of crepe mertyl look promising. Going to try again, this time with only play sand -- and only misted with water-- on the theory that the growing medium holds too much moisture. Will try this with boxwoods too. Love this shight.

5 gallon buckets/bags/related container methods are the way here. Google "potatoes in a bag" or whatever other container you have (heck a yard waste bag in a milk crate would be topical and work).
