Spent 20min trying to figure out what kind if connection my mobo would have for an SSD, gave up.
You know the model? Or have a picture?
You 100% have a sata connection. The only question is if you have a m.2 slot.
Asus m5A97 LE R2.0 AM3+
I tried looking for "M2" on the description, could bot find. And looking at the M2 SSD and trying to find a similar slot on the mobo didn't help.

The 6 identical ports(grouped 4/2) on the lower right in that picture, labeled "SATA 6GB/s" are your sata ports. Assuming you have one or more free, you can install a 2.5" SSD drive.

Cool, I'll just get a SATA, wasn't sure if M2 was faster or something.
Soon as the gift card comes through (trying to use a $100 prepaid gift card for a $109 SSD) it will be on the way.
Then probably a new PSU, since I can strap that in as well, though I won't get any performance boost it will get me over the 430w I have now and will need for a new CPU anyways

It is, but don't worry about it. Its mostly that it's a tiny port and the "ssd" looks like a miniature ram stick. So it is a nice, clean look.
You're going to love the ssd. Strongly recommend looking up how to move Windows onto it, your computer will boot in 10 seconds or less. Drastically cuts down loading times in games too.

Ironically, I needed to unplug the DVD drive that had never been used for both of the cables.
The trick will be moving the OS. The program that was recommended seems like it will "backup" the OS then I'll just hit the Bios and boot from the new drive.
Had a moment if panic when my comp didn't see the new drive, but got it to find the drive and backing up Win10 to the SSD (I think).
Turns out you need to Clone it to the new drive, not back it up. Oops.

Getting away from gaming now, but...
OK, pretty sure I booted from the SSD. Then I accidentally booted from the HDD, and man does it already feel painfully slow!
Then I looked at my drive space, and was all ('o') because I forgot Modern Warfare is 200fuckingGB. Probably going to run most "one and done" games from the HDD, since IIRC SSD are not as good at constant file movement, so if it's something I'm not going to keep on for a while I should run it off the HDD, right?

No. I don't get excited pre-release anymore. Especially not about EA games.
I see they reduced the "sexism". That's a nope from me, dawg. I prefer my butt-shaped polygon lumps round, big and as close to the center of the screen as possible.

Does it have the multiplayer?

So you were the demographic they were shooting for. I remember (particularly ME2) thinking while playing, why was half that cut scene Miranda's ass?
They didn't change the models. Just moved the camera position in a few scenes from what I read. But fair enough.

PS5 State of Gaming
I'm actually enjoying that there is not a large library of PS5 games. I have gone back and replayed Days Gone, Demon Souls, and Spiderman at 60 fps and reduced load times 100% enjoying the experience. Right now replaying Control with plans to replay God of War and Ghost of Tsushima. Rockstar adds improvements to RD2 and GTA5...I read they are updating Division 2 to use PS5 upgrades.
I know consoles are hard to come by but I 100% am enjoying my PS5.

Me: Consoles are a good value if I was just playing video games, but since I don't seem to play too many it's too much to spend on a dedicated device.
Also me: Can't wait to buy a 3080 once they're available!

I'm doing the same; didn't like Demon's Souls that much, and going to finish Sackboy. Also working through P5 Royal and FF7 Remake, then want to replay God of War and TLoU1+2. Also going to play that free RE7 before Village comes out in May.

My PC build went a bit haywire, but managed to get it done. The dual socket motherboard I got from aliexpress turned out to be defective. Huh. Who would have thought.... But any way, It did not actually have DDR3 sockets and the NVMe slot only sporadically recognized the drive. I was able to get my money back at least (and keep the board), which was nice because I happened across a 3070 during the 15ms they were in stock at the local Micro Center. The coolers I got for the Xeons weren't compatible with the motherboard (only supported 4 pin PWM controlled fans) so they ran 100% and were pretty noisy. The replacements that I got did not have the right mounting brackets, but I was able to swap with the originals.
I traded like half a shoe box of DDR3 ram for some DDR4 on craigslist and got it fired up with a regular SSD. Hacked and reflashed the BIOS to enable all core turbo boost on both the Xeons with a small undervolt to keep the thermals in check. She runs pretty much every game I have @ 4K / 60-100fps. It rocks. And the 24c/48t CPUs really tear through all the old digitized VHS home videos I'm transcoding. It was a bit of a pain to mix the old and new hardware, but it was pretty cost effective. I ran a few benchmarks like Cinebench, and it's right up there with a top spec'ed Mac Pro. Except the full build + GPU cost less than Apple's monitor stand. #havetotrollapplefanboys
tldr; Sweet, sweet RGBs
State of PC Gaming: Just finished playing through Immortals Fenyx Rising. It was Ok. Basically a mashup of Assassin's Creed and Breath of the WIld, but it worked. Puzzles are simplistic and repetitive, combat is kinda like Smash Bros.

I am near the end (I think?) of MGSV. Only have a 50% "Completion" rate, but from what I read I have two main missions left, and all the side missions complete, so...
Doing some of the online FOB challenges and leveling up my own FOB, sporadically upgrading my weapons and tools as I can.

God of War in 4K on a 75" screen is glorious. Would highly recommend. Forgot how good this game is.
