Re: Candito: "Why I Am NOT Doing USAPL Nationals..."
I'll keep doing USAPL meets because i just care about my state records, and getting top ten all years for M3a.
USPA does meets here too, and i could rank higher there, but i've already set my goal based on the USAPL rankings.
After that though, i am open to possibly trying a USPA meet.

Re: Candito: "Why I Am NOT Doing USAPL Nationals..."
These are legitimate complaints about the organization. Getting someone to buy a lifetime membership (which is corny) and rewarding them with a golden ticket to nationals is silly.
His follow-on gripe about not allowing cameras because USAPL takes photos and videos to sell to the contestants is also valid. But lots of organizations do that now (even if it does suck).
The idea that IPF and USAPL are out for profits isn’t a new idea, though. Those fees assessed to equipment manufacturers are complete bullshit.

Re: Candito: "Why I Am NOT Doing USAPL Nationals..."
This is a troll comment of course: but his thing about it taking 40.5 years to "realize the deal" on the lifetime membership is retarded. This of course assumes no inflation...and/or annual memberships still costing $65 in 2040, 2050, etc. Inflation aside, this same evil fleecing organization isn't going to raise yearly membership rates either? for various non-reasons?
There's plenty of other reasons why that lifetime membership is stupid, but what he points out is the least of them.

I didn’t care to watch long enough to pick up on this statement. I agree with you in that his math is overly simplistic.mbasic wrote: ↑Sat Feb 06, 2021 6:44 am This is a troll comment of course: but his thing about it taking 40.5 years to "realize the deal" on the lifetime membership is retarded. Most lifetime memberships are a waste of money. Think about the longevity of a typical powerlifter at the elite level. What’s it going to be? 10-15 years at a maximum? Most people will be involved for somewhere between 3 and 7 years (as a guess).
All the USAPL has done is create their version of a Disney FastPass.

Re: Candito: "Why I Am NOT Doing USAPL Nationals..."
...Candito had respect for the USAPL in the first place? Mistakes were made I think.
Honestly, I don't know why nationals isn't an invite only meet at this point anyway. Well I do know. It's because the meet fees alone are something on the order of $200,000 to $300,000.

Re: Candito: "Why I Am NOT Doing USAPL Nationals..."
I was signed up for a USPA meet this Fall and it got cancelled, didn't get a refund, and had bought a year membership for 60 bucks already. Felt like I got scammed honestly and it's what made me go from "I want to do a meet" to "I'm going to do a meet with my friends hosted at my (home) gym for free."

Re: Candito: "Why I Am NOT Doing USAPL Nationals..."
I think Youtubers posting clickbait videos and being mad about free entry to a meet they weren't gonna win/place at anyway is still worse than the dumb shit the USAPL does.

How the USAPL is selecting lifters for this years nationals is stupid, and Candito made a good video addressing that topic. And he’s making a stand. I tip my hat to the man.

Re: Candito: "Why I Am NOT Doing USAPL Nationals..."
funny, I can't find anything on what he is talking about.
Can someone in the know show me?
https://www.usapowerlifting.com/lifetim ... onditions/
... you get an automatic SPECTATOR entry to Nationals.
And a 5% discount on the entry fee is you qualify as a competitor.
This is the info on Nationals:

Re: Candito: "Why I Am NOT Doing USAPL Nationals..."
I actually took what he said in the video for the truth, but a 5% discount is a way bigger difference than saying you can pay to win.mbasic wrote: ↑Fri Feb 12, 2021 4:23 am funny, I can't find anything on what he is talking about.
