I saw on an IG post that the PAL works best with a stock belt, or a 13mm.

Has any one had any issues with their suede 10mm belts and the PAL?

I'm using a PAL with a 10mm suede and I have no complaints. Sometimes I need to pay attention when closing the lever so that it stays in the hooks, but it's not really a problem. I'm very happy with the adjustable lever. I should note however that I'm new to lever belts in general-- I received my first standard lever on a custom embroidered belt from Pioneer in September, and the PAL arrived in November.

Picked up a stock 13mm and PAL. This thing is awesome!

Also bought some black leather straps.

You guys need to stop. Seriously. I just bought a new soft belt, and you guys are making me feel like I "need" a leather one even though I can't lift enough to justify the purchase.

There is no weight at which it becomes "justifiable" to use a belt.
Stock pioneer cut.

I already own two soft belts, both from Rogue. Just don't feel like I lift enough yet to need the additional support a leather belt might offer me.

Genuinely curious: what's the minimum weight you'd have to hit to make you feel like you need the additional support from a leather belt.

I think my squat and deadlift are less than most people here but I just dove in and bought a leather belt. I'm of the "buy it once" mindset and it seemed like a leather belt fits that. Also, it's what people I trust suggested I buy.

So excited, just got my laser engraved PAL! Took about 2 weeks.

Image

It's an Arabic saying which means "and throw it in the ocean" which I like to interpret as meaning "do things for their own sake."

The PAL itself is pretty cool. Took a bit to get it dialed in. Didn't realize there were 4 settings for a minute. It's really nice, liking it already.

Also if you're getting it engraved for an existing belt, you might want to make sure everything will be facing up, the design on the back of my belt is symmetrical so it wasn't an issue, but the PAL felt like maybe it was the opposite of the old lever, not sure. I'm not always great at making those kinds of rotations in my head.

Did they discontinue the Silverback wraps?

I’m a dirty boy. Just placed my order for a new belt. This one is the lever belt, and got the PAL with it. I will now have 4 Pioneer lifting belts, plus 2 gun belts. Thank baby Jesus I am single!

Exactly! At this point I just need to figure out which one I want to be buried with.

I, personally, do not use a belt at all. I own an Inzer, and it looks today exactly like the day I bought it, and they apparently never break in. I also can't be buggered with it as I actually lift less with it on. Except maybe in Squats it would maybe help, but I doubt it. A pair of Groove briefs on the other hand are a major boost on the occasions that I have used them.

Squat would need to be 315 or higher, and my deadlift needs to break 405. I'm kidding, but not really. With the weights I'm currently lifting (Pissing me off to be completely honest, and I probably need to quite screwing around and hire a coach if I want to make any real progress past my current sticking point.), the soft belts I have work just fine. They haven't popped off or anything and seem to provide a decent amount of support when I use them.

Haha, 5 lifting belts and 3 work belts. Had 6 but I did sell one of the lifting belts.

You do you, but a 6.5mm untreated Pioneer would have cost about as much as two soft belts, been about as comfortable, and lasted 30 years longer.

Very tempted to pull the trigger on a 10mm lever belt with PAL, as well as a 3' deadlift belt. Hopefully the PAL works ok with the suead belt, although I can probably sell it pretty easily if it doesn't work.

Man the PAL is so legit. Just added it to my 10mm 4" Pioneer lever belt and it's just so great. Fantastic idea.. he's gonna sell a billion of these things..

Yeah, it's one of those things that when you see it you're like "well of course, why haven't they always been like this".

So I'm looking to move from a 10" Titan Toro lever belt to a Pioneer belt with PAL (Titan is a bit too big these days).

In terms of general feel, would it be better to go with a 10mm or 13mm suede belt.

My understanding is that suede isn't as stiff, so a 13mm one would probably be a good direct comparison in terms of feel with the Toro, but not sure how 13mm goes if you aren't a larger guy (I'm 190lb around 34" waist)?

I’m a similar size to you (5’10” if that makes a difference) and my 13mm Pioneer feels just fine. But it’s single prong, not lever. And it’s 3” wide.
