Yeowch. Obviously the kid is pretty strong, but please tell me what desirable adaptation is he getting from doing a set that hard?

Re: 100 Starting Strength gyms in 5 years
Hey guys n' gals, what's the procedure for removing my user name/registration from the SS site?
I've had it and would like to completely leave. I haven't posted anything there for many many months. (I'm sure I'll continue to lurk there out of abject fascination-or-sumptin') but...
Is there a way to un-register? I'm using the same user name here and wondering if maybe that wasn't the best choice...does it expire on it's own after no posting for long enough?
When my beautiful and treasured Hawaiian shirts suddenly aquired a political identity it kind of ruined the vacation for me. Maybe they'll leave my Alaskan souvenir Mukluks to enjoy in their place?

You could politely ask them via DM, but I don't think they do that anymore. Giving them reason to delete yer account will only result in your shadowban (you just can't post anything anymore).Inverstone wrote: ↑Mon May 04, 2020 11:38 am Hey guys n' gals, what's the procedure for removing my user name/registration from the SS site?

Re: 100 Starting Strength gyms in 5 years
Yeah, I spent a lot of time feeling inadequate because the guys I trained usually didn't squat three plates in three months. I watched the vids and thought, "hmm... but oh well he's an SSC and I'm not so I'll mind my own business." And I kept plugging away. But as Rip said, "Kyle is an unnecessarily slow learner". In time I learned the difference between online bluster and reality.

Re: 100 Starting Strength gyms in 5 years
Thanks. I was hoping to just get myself removed from them using me as a justification for internet hits "in my area" to create another mythological franchise storefront, be even marginally associated with the site, etc. etc.
I guess it's like going down to the crossroads at midnight and being forever in a bargain that's no bargain at all
I don't care if my meager posts remain as I was always a perfect gentleman and a reasoned person Just wanted to make a statement by quitting the club.

Did you have a log there? Post a farewell message. Maybe mention that you find the political & social commentary on the forum uncomfortable. Do it politely, would be interesting to see what happens. They might not notice/care (even though it would probably take months for your log to drop off page one).Inverstone wrote: ↑Mon May 04, 2020 7:11 pm Thanks. It wouldn't be hard to scrape a list of forum users together with the date of their most recent activity, get an idea of how many claimed "users" are dormant.

And I get embarrassed when my log here goes on to page 2 after taking a single rest day...mouse wrote: ↑Tue May 05, 2020 4:42 amThe last post on my log in the intermediate forum is over a year old now (5/1/2019)... it's on page 3...convergentsum wrote: ↑Tue May 05, 2020 2:16 am (even though it would probably take months for your log to drop off page one)

The fake log I had in the general training section that I gave up on just prior to last Christmas is still on page 2.mouse wrote: ↑Tue May 05, 2020 4:42 amThe last post on my log in the intermediate forum is over a year old now (5/1/2019)... it's on page 3...convergentsum wrote: ↑Tue May 05, 2020 2:16 am (even though it would probably take months for your log to drop off page one)

What does “training books” include? Starr’s stuff? The early compilation of stupid posts from his q&a?
Also, nice catch on the site decline. Certainly a smart investment. That’s around a 15% drop in web traffic. In what should’ve been an expanding market.

Plus how much of it was people that went once to the website or a few times, were insulted or shocked and never returned?
I would love to see return numbers. If they can't even fudge the books enough to show growth it makes you wonder....

Re: 100 Starting Strength gyms in 5 years
I know for sure, if my lst exposure to SS was via the site now, I'd run, not walk away!!! It's truly mind boggling how downhill it's gone. I now tell folks (new to lifting) to buy and read the book (with some caveats) but absolutely do NOT recommend going to the site at all.
If I had gone to the site lst I might never have even considered buying/reading the book 3 years ago and that WOULD have been a loss for me.
It kinda sucks to have to have such mixed feelings/messages about all of that and have to try and explain it to whatever sane person I'm recommending the book to. Oh well, the dah-cottimy of life. I'm settling in to watch the franchise situation progress (or not) overtime. It's going to be my new spectator sport.

Just recommend StrongLifts. All the good stuff without the baggage, or power cleans.Inverstone wrote: ↑Tue May 26, 2020 12:12 pm I know for sure, if my lst exposure to SS was via the site now, I'd run, not walk away!!! Re: 100 Starting Strength gyms in 5 years
I don't even know that the SS site scares people off. A lot of the people who seem to be into SS now are either
1. Emotionally stunted
2. Narcissists like Montfort
3. Conspiracy theorists
4. Losers from 4chan (though this has always been the case)
5. Literal neo-nazis/white-supremacists/people calling for a Christian ethnostate
I don't know what happened but it seems like a lot less reasonable people seem to be into The Brand™ than there used to be. There are a lot of questionable people in the YT comments of their videos and their FB groups. I'm maybe guessing that most people are exposed to them by Youtube now, and they might just be turned off by the hours long podcasts of Rip live action role-playing as an intellectual. Who knows.
It's really taken a bizarre turn after BBL left, I feel like Reynolds, as flawed as he is, was probably the only person keeping that shit show from going off the deep end. I still watch the BBL podcast now and then, I finally had to unsubscribe from the Assgourd channel because it was just getting annoying.
