Exodus Strength Virtual Meets
Since a bunch of meets are about to be canceled, maybe we should plan a virtual meet. Could even use LiftingCast.com. Would be cool to do such a thing every couple of months even after this virus passes. That would be a great time to test 1RMs without all the hassle of an actual meet.

+1
Need a reason to give myself a wedgie wear the new singlet I bought.
ETA: how much administrative time/expertise was needed for the last exodus meet? I would be willing to help out, since I’m in no danger of actually winning anything.

I could help with judging, if needed.
I have a very high rate of calling the high squats before the lights on livestreams, even from the bad angles.

USSF rules?
Kidding. HOWEVER, if we allow FS instead of BS I should be on track to hit my 2020 lifting goals by late summer (September?).
Is quarterly too often?

Re: Exodus Strength Virtual Meets
It's been done here before.
Video of you weighing in, and vids of your 3 best lifts from approved upon camera angles.
Then the judges judge.
I feel like we'll never have a regular S/B/D meet again though, since you are all a bunch of weirdos and want to do other lifts.
My preference, if these ever became a regular thing here, would be to do every other one as a regular S/B/D powerlifting meet.
*It just dawned on me, it would be easy to include other lifts in the same meet.
Maybe one extra lift that people seem to want most.
Not sure if or when the number of lifts would become cumbersome, but i think a four lift meet would work.
Still have standings for S/B/D totals.

Let's do it. Adding a fourth optional lift (the press?) would not be terribly difficult. People came compete with totals including bench or press. I assume we could get a couple sponsors (I am willing to throw in a $100.00 amazon give card if necessary) and offer a few rewards like last time.

Re: Exodus Strength Virtual Meets
Just got the word my meet was postponed. I’m continuing with meet prep and this Exodus online meet sounds great. I’m definitely up for participating!

Only 5 or 6 weeks to prep but it might be fun if some of us from here competed in it. Submit 3 big lifts between may 10 & 17, you can use specialty bars but will not count for category prizes; everyone is entered for grand prize if you submit lifts properly via IG.

Super cool. Thanks for making us aware. I'm seriously thinking about it.bobmen10000 wrote: ↑Sat Apr 04, 2020 12:37 pm https://garagegymcompetition.wordpress.com/

It'd be great to hold another Exodus online meet at some stage but considering how many people rely on commercial gyms, it feels a bit unfair to them to run one under the current circumstances. But a virtual meet specifically designed for people who train at home kinda takes that concern away.

I'm a little concerned about judging. It is ran on the honor system?
I like the idea. Has anyone done this?

I mean pretty much... I've helped run an online "meet" once before and it's definitely more"loose" than a real meet, but it's all in fun...
I looked over the rules for this, other than the top prizes, it seems more like its a fun giveaway. In order to qualify for the big prizes, you need to obey the more strict rules/format, but the rest are available just for participating.

I watched some of the videos on IG and most lifts looked decent.......But no judging

Mailing in the urine samples will be the biggest hurdle.

Re: Exodus Strength Virtual Meets
Well I mean we did it we had a panel of judges, 6 of us, split the entries in to two groups, and did it with a shared spreadsheet. Each lifter had a column, judges would white/red light the attempts by rows. I think that's how it worked.
Obviously there were no judges IN the videos...
Best we can do is a taste test...

Re: Exodus Strength Virtual Meets
The above is pretty much how the ETP virtual meets are run I think. A panel of judges (I think there are 3 rather than 6) and they just work off a spreadsheet, and lifts need at least two out of three judges to give a white light to get the all clear.
I've done two ETP virtual meets plus the Exodus one; they've all been pretty much just a fun way to max out.
