The ratio of bulk:cut bullet point is very telling here. This is why I take all bodybuilder/powerlifter programming and diet advice with a grain of salt.
Not so many full natty brahs out there.

Yeah I’m pretty sure Helms and a few others suggest more like 2:1.

You can lose fat far quicker than you can gain muscle. 3 or 4:1 seems about right.

I was totally unaware of the whole Aragon shitstorm. Sounds like he's now persona non grata in the fitness community, which seems like his just deserts by all accounts.

How much should one increase calories from maintenance for slow bulking? Like 300-500? Does it make sense to have a larger caloric intake during the development training block with higher volume? I was thinking about this "gaintaining".

That's pretty much exactly what I normally do, maintenance +500kcal/day, weight gain always paired with higher volume training. Works out about +0.5kg a week. Any faster than that, I don't really notice much difference, so I cap it there.
