Rules of thumb for cutting

What's a carb? A car part? What's a macro? A type of camera lens?

What's the point in being 20 if you can't flex on Instagram about being 20?
heh, you were not even born back then, so you wouldn't know.

I know more than you think. I was 20 back in the primitive days where social media didn't exist, cell phones folded, and ISDN was still around.

The struggle was real.

Well, took 13 weeks, but I've dropped 20lbs, from 280->259, size 42 to 38. Will be doing 4-6 week diet break now before continuing. Even if this ends up being pointless, will be good practice for do's and don'ts for when I completely end the diet.

This has been an enlightening thread (in conjunction with tdood’s contribution in the related programming thread).

I don’t know my bf but I’m sure it’s well over 20%. 6’1”, 265, 38” waist. Looking to get down to 245. Right now I’m shooting for 2800/day. It’s the first week so I’m not sure yet if that’ll be appropriate longer term.

This is my current process I've pieced together based on what I've read/watched on the internet (mostly from Mike Israetel and Izzy's videos). Basically the goal is to lose weight at a pace that supposedly is a decent compromise between fastish, sustainable weight loss, and negligible strength loss, together with Mike Israetel's stuff on diet breaks:

Making that flow chart took far longer than I thought it would....

The image from the previous post didn't initially load for me, and I thought you were cracking your knuckles, about to educate us all on your secret cutting while gaining strength techniques.

You can always purchase a template from renaissance periodization. https://renaissanceperiodization.com/sh ... templates/ When I had to slim down for a wedding I used it. They basically breakdown what you're supposed to eat, how frequently, and a facebook goup to go ask questions. Look for discount codes online because they are pricey.

edit: I forgot to add that the templates look like they follow the 40/40/20 split with p/c/f. I remember getting my template and was really surprised how they really hammered in the point how carb intake was bracketed around the training session--just enough to fuel your workout and recovery for the night.
