Bench 250x8x5, 1x15@10 (lol)
This means my sets of 5 are, technically, RPE 0.

Squatters are sore. Skipping it for today. Who cares.

LTE 128x 14, 12, 10

Tib Raises 30x2x10

Single Leg BW Calf Raises, alternating sides without rest x
12, 10, 9

Hanging Knee Raise x2x10

BJJ Musings: I attended my first gi class yesterday, and it was beginner oriented. I found it much more digestible than the more advanced no-gi class I've been attending, and I feel like I can better utilize my physical strength with the gi (and against other beginners, lol).

For whatever reason, I don't like admitting that a big part of my interest in BJJ is self defense. I've never been in a fight, and I fully expect to continue that trend until my death. But there's something appealing about knowing how to engage in hand to hand combat. And to the best of my recollection, most people wear clothes, ergo training with the gi is advantageous in my pursuit to being able to theoretically (but not actually) beat up bad guys.

But now I have to buy a gi.

I've had a weird GI thing the last few days. A little baseline nausea, but zero appetite. No fever. Normal poops. For your involuntary mini cut.

Haven't lifted in a bit due to back pain. I think the chiro's decompression table is actually hurting me. On my second to last visit, I didn't have time for it, and the next couple days were the best I've felt in a while. On my most recent visit, I let them do it and the pain has been pretty decent since stepping off the table.

These things are pretty minor compared to what I've seen in the other Exodus logs lately. Seems a bit of bad luck has been going around. Stay safe out there @everyone.

Yesterday was no-gi, which counts as cardio, so I should've lifted today but I didn't feel like it. Speaking of BJJ, last night the littlest dude I've ever rolled with absolutely owned me for 5 minutes. He was a mongoose slithering around an angry bear. Every time I thought I had him he'd sneak out and find a joint to attack. It was really cool to see jujitsu "work" so well.

He caught me in a nasty calf slicer by surprise, and it took me so off guard I forgot to tap and just yelled "oh fuck!" He let off a bit, but I didn't technically tap, so he reapplied the pressure which elicited another "oh fuck!" but also a tap. I told him for future reference, if I yell "oh fuck," it counts as a tap.

I guess last night's lesson was to remember to tap.

Yeah, always loudly say “tap” even though it sounds dumb. Counting on someone to feel the physical tap or to translate some other vocalization is how shit gets snapped.

Yeah it was totally my own fault. I also learned this kid does high level competitions; I’m sure he wouldn’t want to build a mental pattern of letting go without an official tap.

What’s funny is that the tek we went over in class that day doesn’t leave your hands very free. So I had been saying “tap tap tap” up until the open mat, lol.

I hate colds because I'm not sick enough to skip workouts without guilt, but I'm also a huge baby and don't like working out unless all the lights are green and there's no traffic and my car just had a tune up and a full tank of gas. Maybe I need to start getting more serious about preworkout caffeine?

Bench 250x5x5, 185x 25, 14
My wife's Xfit gym is having a team relay competition tonight and the men's bench weight is 185 so I had to see how many reps I could get.

Squat 315x3x4
We'll see how that feels tomorrow.

A lot more bruises than usual, and calf pain for a few days, but overall I'm fine. One advantage to nihilism is your ego rarely gets bruised; you can't hurt nothing.

Though I do have just enough ego to make sure I outbench a bunch of people who don't even care about benching (@DCR).

I think we can agree that they're wrong to not care.

Chins +90x 7, 5, 6

Landmine Shrug Rows 135x 14, 12, 10
Apparently these are called Wendler Rows, but I'm pretty sure I also came up them on my own. Long story short, I'm going to keep calling them Landmine Shrug Rows. Also, according to @MattimusMaximus we can call things whatever we want.

Arnold Press 50x 14, 12, 12

BB Curl 135x 5, 5, 4 for @DCR
Obviously, these were a little cheaty.

Musings: This morning when I logged into Netflix, the first thing that popped up was John Wick. I'd never seen it because it didn't seem like my kind of movie. Watched it. He just, like, shoots... a lot of people? Not my kind of movie. For your artsy fartsy pretentiousness.

Phenomenal. Tbh I'd been wondering for weeks why you kept up the higher rep curls when you had the option to just be awesome all along.

Shrug. No one would judge except some clown looking to justify his own 85 lb max.

A little late for a lifting session (for me). But I took a hike in the morning, then a nap, did a bunch of chorin', and now I feel like lifting.

Squat 345x6x2, OT 2:00
These felt really good, but I wanted to quit while I was ahead. Still an increase in "stress" compared to last week's sessions.

Bench 265x5x4, OT 2:00
Maybe a little fatigued from AMRAP'n a couple days ago; these were achy and slow.

Jackson at least drops his signature bombs over a field of intense emotion and well delivered dialog. John Wick's clunky dialog was more jarring than the actual murders.

3:00 transitions and 2:00 rests today, all sets to failure-

Chins +90x 8, 5 @dip belt groin skin pinch

Landmine Shrug Row +155x 10, 10, 8

Upright Row 135x 9, 7 @possibly too cheaty to actually do anything

BB Curl 135x 5, 5, 4

LTE 138x 12, 7 @probably could've done 8 but I didn't want to fail an LTE behind my head.

~35 minutes

Note to self: You don't need to take an hour and a half to do a bunch of bro stuff you lazy piece of shit.

p.s. Doing it faster makes it actually feel like a workout and you get a better pump you healthy sexy bastard.
