I'm younger that both you and Wilhelm. I'm also fatter and weaker than anyone on this board. As a rookie I sponge all I can off of other peoples logs, the advice they share, and you tube vids that Wilhelm shares with me. Long winded--Hi! Sorry. For the record only: I'm 66 aiming for 100.

I'm older at 59, and heavier BW, but on the other hand I lift lower weights. I'll be following.

Shug,

glad you're posting over here! You and Oldster were the only reasons I was bothering to log in Egypt.

Method AND madness?

Post by Chebass88 » Mon Nov 06, 2017 9:30 am

Welcome Shug! Do you have any particular set & rep scheme you like to do for the CoC grippers?

Are you and your boys planning a lifting fest this year? Those are always great to watch every year.

Thanks guys, it's great to be here on this quality forum!
Bass: My approach to using the grippers is pretty much like all of my training, I kind of go by feel. I mostly do a few singles and doubles with the Trainer, .5, and the #1. I'm hoping to have Festivus this year, but I don't know yet. My oldest son hasn't touched a weight since his token appearance last year. My youngest still trains, so I'm sure he would be game for something. We shall see...

That is very cool that you lift with your boys. I've been letting my little guys look at MILO, so they are probably the only kids at the pre-school who can identify Eddie Hall. Since your oldest son has been reloading - perhaps a marksmanship competition is in order.

Your approach on the grippers is sensible. I start doing them regularly, but fall into the trap of "a little bit of something is good, so a lot more is much better". I inevitably end up straining my hands, and put the grippers aside for a few weeks.

So is there a method or is it just madness?

Whatever it is, nice lifting.

Sometimes I don't even know! ;) Thanks. The goal right now is a Conventional Deadlift PR before the end of the year.

Ab wheel and grippers are what I always flake out on and skip. Reading your log inspires me to stop wimping out and do them. Thanks!
