Cole's Strength Log

#1

Post by cole » Mon Aug 16, 2021 8:27 pm

Cole
Born 1983
Height 5'11
Weight 205
SBD PRs 455,355,495

Starting from scratch, new log. Tried my old one and I can't access the vids for some reason. Oh well, I would rather not compare myself to the lifter I was 5 years ago since I don't compete in powerlifting anymore. New goals: General strength and health. Maintain bodyweight @205, lift 3x/wk, cardio 2x/wk, no beer, no chew, eat decent, sleep alright and be nice to my wife and kids.

8-16
LP 1

Squat
135x5
135x5
135x5

Press
65x5
65x5
65x5

DL

-unbelievable how much strength I lost in 3 months of no training. Legs were cramping so bad. Got my new gym set up, looks good. Really busy with the move and the new house/business. Glad to hit the iron again, even as light as it was.

Welcome back, @cole !

I can relate.
Was a 3.5 month layoff for me pre/post surgery.
Was back to 2 plate squat pretty fast.
Thought 355 would be my first top DL single.
Nope, didn't budge.
Started out at 335 single and some sets w/ 250.

Congratulations on the new home.
looking forward to seeing the new lifting space.

Welcome back!

They're all super admirable goals, and totally make sense. It's always good to reevaluate priorities occasionally!

Welcome back! In 2-3 months you’ll be back to where you were and maybe even breaking PR’s from all that rest. How’s the realtor career? I’ve considered it myself.

Welcome back to training. You will surely get back to your old numbers fairly soon. At least you can enjoy the simplicity of running a Linear progression for a while, and who knows, perhaps hit a PR along the way. Theres also a ton of "returning to training" resources out there now following the covid pandemic if that takes your fancy.

Thanks guys @Wilhelm @BenM @houzi wilhelm ill post some vids once i get the weights back up to a reasonable amount. @MattimusMaximus i sold 3 homes abd still have an active license, but my other business is taking all my time. my wife and I bought an assisted living facility and its a lot of busy work. real estate is fun, but i dislike advertising and marketing myself and always having to be "on" socially.

-still got some cramping in the hamstrings and a little in the pecs. i was unbelievably sore the last few days just from that measly 1st workout. this might take a while to get back to something decent. id like to LP to 315/245/405 for 5's before i go to something like HLM or TM

I think you were running Data Driven Strength programming before, how come you wouldnt continue with something along those lines after LP? Just fancy a change?

DDS is a fairly advanced protocol that requires a lot of time and commitment

After LP and some brainless HLM, if I have the strength and motivation back, I will definitely go back to DDS. They are the best

- finished 1st week back, liking the short LP style sessions. very busy with the new business and house. im trying to get everything automated in my life so when i leave for vacations this place runs itself. looking into splicing some wiring to fit timer boxes and pumps, repairing some drip line, hiring reliable staff, and having as much stuff electronic/auto pay as possible.
