GENERAL NOTES ON PROGRESS:

My shoulders have definitely gotten? ...'bigger' or more body builder-like.
Nothing crazy, but all those DB delt raises are doing something for sure.
I hit some type of side-delt laterial raise on every chest-delt-tri day .... and I do rear delt flys on every pull/bicep day.
Funny enough, OHP is moving at a snails pace, which is normal I guess .... IOW: lat.raises don't help OHP.

Stomach still looks about the same/maybe still improving.
The areas just on either side of where my six pack would be keep "caving in" more and more though.
I started up creatine again recently, so I think some water weight is fucking with the scale.

Most of the lifts go up a little bit week by week .... SLLOOOOWWW progress.
In another week or so I'll be repping 225 for 8's for multiple set on incline press (again).
Which would match previous PRs when I was really focusing on incline press like it was my job.
If I could eclipse that .... that would say something....like if I do 230x8x4.

My arms are a bit bigger; a couple of old tech-fabric sport shirts I wear now fit tight at the arms where they def weren't that way
before... IOW: I look like a douche now. I won't wear those in public; they are jammies or workout only now.
In the past I never liked doing curls, so this is not surprising.
Triceps-wise I'm really trying to do stuff with shoulder extension for the 3rd biarticular head....
LTEs one day, and OH BB French press on the other.

KNEE is still a tiny bit fucked up.
BFR thing is interesting, I see its utility in the context of an injury, rehab, old person, etc.
Today I might try to sorta pre-fatigue my quads with floating deads, lunges, etc....
....and then try the leg extensions with NO bands to see what happens.

Assistance work never did shit for my press either, perhaps because my sticking point always is about 6 inches off my chest, in front of my face. It’s not like having trouble locking out, so hit tris hard. It’s more an issue of not getting that full body tension to blow through that point, which lateral raises, etc. don’t help.

I think you said somewhere that bench wasn’t your thing, but those incline numbers would make you the king of nearly any globogym, which I don’t mean in any backhanded way at all.

Yep. For OHP, you have to OHP A LOT, couple times a week, like its your job to get it to move up substanitially. Its like bench in a way, you can recover from a lot of sessions per week. Also, as you say, its kinda a skill thing cuz of the wobbly-overhead-balance-aspect to it (Stay tight, bar path "groove", etc)

I tore a pec benching 10 years? ago, I don't think it ever healed quite right.
I high school (1987), the coaches preferred incline over bench, said it was more specific for blocking/lineman/throwing implements in track.
So just out of high school I always liked incline presses .... also seemed like the body builder thing to do back then.
Then I read Bill Starr stuff on it.

I never cared for big arms, and never liked curls ...probably why my chinup sucks ass. Current thinking is to put on as much muscle anywhere and everywhere as much as possible and leave nothing untrained to the Nth degree......

Felt pretty sick afterwards. I wonder if the lactate builds up in the legs (obvs! duh!) and then is suddenly released to the rest of your body in one giant dose when you undo the bands. ,..... instead of the rest of body slowly buffering the lactate while it is accumulating system wide. Felt super sleepy, and sick afterwards.

NOTE for next several entries:
I think I caught some kind of stomach virus or ??. Food doesn't taste good, no appetite. It seems stuff won't digest and stays in my upper stomach, and a burp it up all the time for several hours after eating. So ....haven't been eating much at all.
Also, serious fatigue. The Note for yesterday was 'it'....it wasn't from the lactate, it was the sickness-fatigue. Also, I am sleepy all the time.
The fatigue aspect feels like covid.....I did take a test: neg. for c19.

No one else in the household has been sick or has gotten sick.

Maybe a food poisoning thing?

OTHER RAMBLINGS TO MYSELF:

But regarding the bentover rear delt cable reverse flyes .... I think what happens is: as opposed to using the rear delt fly MACHINE, you can start past center. That is, the starting point is way past straight in front of your sternum with the cable system, so your rear delts and upper back muscles are more stretched out at the start of the rep. The rear-fly-machine you can only start with you arm straight forward; cables? ,depending how you set up you might have another 20 deg of ROM that lengthens the muscle out. Sure, once you get past a point, the vectoring isn't ideal toward the end of the ROM. A thing to do would be to grab a small dumbbell AND the cable handle together in the same hand .... you'd be fighting gravity at the end, fighting the cable tension at the beginning. You wouldn't need a very heavy dumbbell.

There's a lot of "science" and talk out there about how working a muscle at its stretched/lengthened position really benefits hypertrophy.
(IOW: full ROM .... but it appears the stretched part the of the movement is more important the the muscle-shortened part of the movement)

So I've incorporated things like incline dumbbell curls; LTEs; overhead tricep extensions; and anything else I can think of.
On single arm Matrix lat pulldowns, I grab the handles across my body, (the instructional pictogram on the machine shows using the "same side") .... you get more ROM out of it that way. Pec fly machine is ridiculous the way I set it up. Seat leg curl for hamstrings. etc

I think I'm finally over my sickness. No extra 'fatigue today'. Felt pretty good.
I took a run at 225 on incline .... results were meh.
The whole TRT does not impress me too much.
I have 4-sets-of-eight that weight a year or two ago.
Things are just barely creeping forward at the same rate as before.
I will probably do that again in about 1 month or so at the current rate.
Nothing has got significantly easier and/or better.
BW has been staying about the same.

Got some blood work back from the clinic.
MY TTL cholesterol and triglycerides are fine, but the HDL and LDL ratio is outta whack.
Blood sugar is fine. PSA is high-ish. (was fine before ... this is concerning)
Gonna get my asshole fingered ASAP. (EDIT on this, see below**)

Anyways, I have never been big on LISS type cardio, but recently I keep coming across more
info showing how a little LISS or traditional cardio can be really good for you.
Good performance / anabolic-wise.
I'm not anti-cardio at all , but have always (before now) preferred HIIT, or interval training ....
....cannot FUCKING stand LISS stuff; with the ADHD thing too its torture for me.
But maybe its good for me to face that problem and deal with it.

**EDIT: lady at Dr office called: 6 weeks before I can get a physical. Fuuuuuckkk.
So this will be funny, being that I just had my OCD-ADHD-Epiphany about LISS cardio .... I will have
a considerable block on that shit under my belt by the time I get in there.
.....will be interesting.

5-30-2023 Tues

So I go into the clinic for my Monday shot (they were closed for the holiday) on Tues, and they tell me my PSA numbers are a bit high and they are not "allowed" to give me anymore shots until a urologist clears me or something.

Problem is I can't get into one for a couple of weeks. I'm sure some more blood tests will be run and a rectal prostrate exam. So the Test faucet is shut off for a while; and meanwhile my own natural production has been likely blunted really bad. Can't wait to see what happens to me physically and mentally until something happens....kinda scared TBH. This is going to be horrible from what I hear in the grape vine. Who knows, maybe a can't get back on TRT ....that's also a possibility also. Hopefully I don't have prostate cancer (I doubt it; PSA numbers are finicky .... everything with the "well, it depends")

I guess if a doubled down on diet, exercise, lifestyle, sleep, sun, etc before (starting up test, to maximize the benefits of the 'poison') .... NOW I got to triple-down somehow or another to keep my shit from falling apart. IDK man.

Obviously it is a somewhat individual response, but I can tell you that I noticed decreased motivation and deceased sex drive, but it isn't immediate or dramatic. Just kind of a slow coast down. Your gym work might suffer when you actually tank, your natural production will be essentially zero if you have been on for more than 6 weeks. It takes anywhere from 6 weeks to three months before thing kick back into gear - whatever gear you have. I would take the opportunity to explore my options, maybe talk to an endo. The test itself is actually super cheap, and giving oneself a shot is really not a big deal so you may just find a cheaper and more flexible alternative. If it's an endo partnered in some way with the urologist then you avoid long waits like this in the future if something comes up.

Thanks for the advice/warning. Problem is, in my locality anyways, just getting to see an Endo, Urologist, or even my GP/PCP in a timely manner!!!
Its been this way WITH EVERY aspect of life since covid. I called around and explained some things a bit, to get my appointments moved up. But it looks like best case scenario, I'm going to be off TRT cold turkey for about 2-1/2 weeks .... and that's if say I get checked out, urologist signs off, etc. and everybody does their job in a timely manner. Maybe the urologist says fuck no, your prostrate is huge, gooey, inflamed, cancerous, etc

Only thing I could hope for, is the last two months or so I opted for HCG shots....and had been doing those. Hopefully my natural production isn't total destroyed like shooting pure test, I was NOT happy with the ball shrinkage at all. The wife did not like it either, as was wondering why I did not opt for that from the beginning.

Apparently, or the story I'm told: the feds reclassified what kind of chemical HCG is a while back .... so its like a more 'dangerous' or higher regulated substance now. This has affected what phrama-companies are allowed/authorized to make it. Before, it was treated as more of a harmless substance, and there were many small companies who made it. NOW, only a handful (3 or 4) big globo-phrama companies make it. So its harder to come by and/or a lot more expensive. It seems like a really had to pull teeth to get them to use it on me.

Anyways, hopefully the drop isn't terrible.
I always had them lower dosage. I didn't want levels 1200 (trough) to 2000 (peak). I was like 700-1000. They wanted to see me at 1000 ....but when they pull bloods, that was at trough levels, so peak was naturally going to a lot higher.

My first point is I wasn't TRT-blasting.

My 2nd point, (lifting wise) I don't see that it helped all that much. So coming off may not be so extreme or whatever. I still haven't hit a couple recent PR numbers I had a year or so before all this.....when I was really working out hard with my son. And I wasn't doing terrible with 200 levels of test.....so maybe the cratering thats coming won't be so bad.

Sex drive and dick-function-wise wise? same thing. I was doing fine in those departments before and actually got worse (longer term) with TRT.
All that^ said, I do remember when I first started up, they were giving me my initial dosage, and I did notice a instant bump in gym strength, and some crazy shit wrt libido .... but that lasted only 2 or 3 weeks at best. The sex drive thing there was 1 noticeable week where is was crazy. Once my bloods came back, everything was dialed back. My own test generating probably got blunted too. The rest of my experience has been lack luster IMO. Its has helped with the depression; I figure this is much better option than SSRIs or something.... I hate anything phrama.

The TL;DR here ... is like you were saying in the other thread, for me, my levels would have to be consistently pushed up to 1500-2000 to see real results physique wise.

Any improvement in strength (hasn't been many) can be attributed to my further doubling down of effort (diet, volume of work, cardio, sleep).
And easy one to explain: Before this, I hardly ever (never basically) "do arms". The last 2-1/2 months (since I hurt my knee), I've done more curls, pushdowns, LTEs, etc than my whole adult lifting life ever. Guess what, sleeves fit tighter on all my workout shirts....fucking duh. Knee is fucked up and I can't olympic lift or squat really .... so I went "body builder mode" figuring I need to put on as much muscle as possible and to stay in the gym AT LEAST doing SOMETHING. Basically, full body builder program with cardio. Abs work (another thing I haven't done) ..... and the Capt. Obvious results is I look better.

Wife came to workout with me (she did Stairmaster whole time), so I was kind pressured to wrap things up quickly at the end.
At the beginning of this, there was a half three-quarter naked girl working out in the smith machine which was close to me .... which was weird/awkward. Basically, the most naked girl I have seen at a gym that I remember. She was 35-40, and really shouldn't be THAT naked (didn't have the body for it at all; was overly tan; basically body dysmorphia).
