Miami's Log.. aka adventures in program hopping.
hi guys!
lifetime slob here trying to reverse decades of fast food consumption and very little (i.e. zero) physical activity.
touched a bar for first time in 2011, fell in love, program hopped my way from a 95lbs squat to 355lbs for 5x5 in about two and a half years, shit happened and i completely stopped training, decided to start training again in january of this year, started researching to see what current views on optimal training strategies were, went to lurk the rippetoe boards like I used to first time around, came across baraki/feigenbaum stuff and as i searched around for more of their content i found this place, after few weeks of lurking here fell in love with the mix of humor and interesting discussion, decided if i am gonna spend any time doing online posting things, this is the place im going to do it.
current stats:
36 years old
5'10"
210lbs
41" waist @ navel
26%bf according to navy
no athletic background whatsoever, been overweight since teenager.
was 235 @ 34%bf (navy calc) with 45" waist back in january (shout out to jordan's eat like a beast article!) so progress is being made on fat loss side of things.
starting in last week of jan i SSLP'd for 9 weeks before switching to a push/pull split that I was running until last week, progress has been the following:
squat 95x5x3 -> 225x5x5
bench 100x5x3 -> 200x5x5
deadlift 175x5x1 -> 285x5x1
press 75x5x3 -> 135x5x5

Started a 4 day full body program this week, probably too much volume for this early in my progress but wtf im already late to the party might as well drink enough to try to catch up imo.

taking it extra easy this week to let the hip and low back stuff calm down before jumping into next block, slept decent these last few days as opposed to the can't-sleep-for-more-than-90-minutes-at-a-time game ive been playing since february.. im taking that as a sign that this semi deload was a good idea.
