Hey guys

Going to start a training log here. Really like all the discussions on this forum so I think I am going to stay here as opposed to SS.
Some of you may have read my threads and have some details on me, but if not, here are the basics:

Finished my LP in the fall and I just finished my last cycle of Andy Baker's Powerbuilding program and have just started BBM's 12 week strength template: I am not going to detail my past lifts from Andy's program, so I'll just start with this week's training:

Mon
Comp Squat 275x5@6,285x5@7,295x5x2@8
Comp Bench 245x5@6,255x5@7,260x5x2@8. The second set with 260 moved very fast. May have undershot RPE, but I noticed my leg drive was better than on the other sets so that is probably why I may have used that weight.
Rows 185x10@7, 205x10@8, 215x10@9
-all moved very well today.

Tues
Comp DL 335x5@6, 345x5@7, 360x5x2@8
Comp Press 155x5@6, 165X5@7, 170x5x2@8
beltless Tempo sq 3-0-3 155x10@7 175x10@8-9, 185x6-whoops

First time doing these so I was unsure about weight. They are brutal, and my work capacity sucks. I think I should've done 155 165 and then 175. Oh well. Other than that, this workout was solid. Deads and presses were good.

Ha, the slingshot is the weirdest thing on the planet. First time using it so my bar path was all over the place. The 300 moved faster than the 295 because I felt more set. I was supppsed to @7,@8,@9 but this was more of a range finding and get used to this piece of equipment day. I didn’t want to just kill it. I know have a good starting point. But BRUH THE POWAAA

Bench 1x1 300@8, 5x5 245. e1RM=324
Rows 185x10,205x10,215x10x2

Good workout. I was unsure of myself of hitting 335 for 1 @8 so I hit 325 first and smoked it. That gave me good confidence for 335, and that went up a little slower but not much. Need to cut off a couple inches for squats but all went well. Bench was good. Rest periods were kept short (3-4min). Going to try sumo DL tmrw. I'll start logging e1RMs from here on out just to see how that trends up.

Welcome, ToxGuy! (Are you either a toxinologist or toxicologist?)

I think you made a good choice in choosing to post here. Logs are great for keeping you accountable. Posting here, you'll find people are less dogmatic and more open minded to training solutions, especially when it comes to intermediate programming.

That's an awesome PhD field! No, I'm not in a related field. But I took toxinology as an elective once and liked it.

Legs and hips were smoked from sumo so no tempos today and I needed to go study.

First time doing sumo. I liked them. Was very happy with how my back looked! May keep doing them. Posted vids to the technique forum

Rough squat session. Adductors were waaaay sore (I suppose from sumo). No big deal. I don’t give a shit about my beltless squat for 4 reps going up in weight every week.

Slingshot bench
285x4@easy, 295x4@easy, 305x4@7, 315x4@7.5-8, 325x4@8.5-9, 315x4@8
Much better with the slingshot today. I think I need more spacing between jumps. 315-325 felt about same RPE.

Closegrip incline 135x10, 155x10x2 sets

It was supposed to be 340x1 and 275 for backoffs but my left quad has been really pissed off from sumo and it’s making squats difficult. No big deal. Will keep on keeping on. Going to start a course of NSAIDS.

1x1 300. Called it quits. My left quad is really pissed off. Hurt like hell the whole time. Only hurts after the set, not during. Probably going to chill with the legs a few days

Didn’t get to train the tail end of last week. The days off were nice. Quad is much better. I wanted to nail that 340 I was supposed to do last week.

The 340 moved slower than I had hoped but happy to nail it. Lots of ugly reps on the 275 but overall happy to be improving

Back on the conventional train. No quad pain. 405 looked good. I was gassed by the 5th set and should have dropped the weight for the final two back off sets. Repeated press weights from last week. Moved well. Did the back offs beltless. They were easy.

Slingshot Bench-295x4-easy,315x4@7.5-8, 335x4@8.5-9 (got misgrooved on the third rep and that threw me off), 320x4@8

CG incline- 135x10, 155x10, 160x10x2 sets

Close grip 235x4@7, 255x4@7.5-8 (misgrooved a couple), 275x4x2@8-8.5 PR. Smashed the 275. Focused on touching lower on the chest (I touched too high with the 255). Happy to PR my close grip on a cut!

Tempo DL 275 4x3. I did these instead of rack pulls since my big problem is rushing the pull and not having good timing. These were hard, but I really liked feeling my body move one step at a time. Back was perfectly flat

The squat single was really misgrooved. Not sure how to rate. I totally GMed it, the bar rolled way up my back, and I got loose. Will repeat or drop weight. Bench was nahce

Smoked my DL at 415! I get my back set but it flexes. Oh well. That just means I need to film from the front and not the front quarter or side. I backed off the weight for the back offs because RPE was creeping up and my back was getting fatigued and starting to round more than usual. 5th rep is always terrible, regardless of weight.

My presses were awesome! The warmups up to 175 were terrible. I did a single at 185 and smoked it and decided to go for 200. Was either going to go for 197.5 or 195. 200 went up fast! The last time I tried this (maybe a month or so ago on Andy’s PB program I failed...and I was heavier).

Tried out hi bar. Loved them.
