Been a while without working out while I moved house (yay!). There are no gyms in my new village (boo!), and rather than joining another 24hr gym in a neighbouring town, I've started putting together a rig for the garage (double yay!).

Scored some amazing stuff on facebook / ebay already: just a couple of 20kg bumpers, a cool used rack & bench by Watson, which I hadn't heard of but seems like they're a posh manufacturer, make a lot of bespoke equipment. The rack is no-frills but very heavy duty. Much stronger than I need, but those cheap 14-gauge racks make me anxious. Was thinking of getting a mirafit M3 but this thing turned my head. The bench is adjustable, which goes against my instinct for a basic flat bench (fewer modes of failure), but this thing feels reassuringly over-engineered, and since the garage ceiling is too low for standing OHP, I can use the folding bench for seated overhead & incline work instead. Checking out a used ohio power bar tonight, if it's up to scratch I think I'll be very well set. :) I'll need to get more weights, but I'm not in a hurry. I'm gonna wait for bargains, after splashing out on the rack. Also I guess I should build a platform, but with so little weight I trust myself not to drop anything for now.

My immediate goals are not strength related. After failing to cut bodyweight for years (and making a few unwelcome gains over Christmas), I'm a couple of weeks into intermittent fasting, aiming to reach (maybe even overshoot) my target of 90kg. I'm running a 10k in March, which I aim to complete under an hour. I've been making some progress on my pace over short runs (2.5 - 3k), and gonna start mixing in some weekly LSD now. I'm happy to treat weights as assisstance to my running / weight loss goals until then, so there's absolutely no rush for collecting more plates.

Picked up a mild case of covid, so not sure if the DOMs is exacerbated by that, but it's been killer! I've been keeping up frequent bouts of light work (obviously, I only have 60kg of weight) and running (not concerned about progression, just keeping a bit of milage up).

Recently picked up some weight, so can now load up to 175kg. Currently LPing my humility, as I'm lifting rank novice weights. Neatly coincided with the record-breaking heat-wave, I can do 40 minutes of lifting (2 lifts plus an accessory) in my garage first thing before the heat gets unbearable.

Thanks! Im lifting frequently (not logging everything), pretty much just squats and bench because my space is awkward for deadlifts. I do feel the lack of them.
