In the Exodus Online Strength Meet, we will compete in three lifts:
1. Squat
2. Bench Press
3. Deadlift
The three lifts are in this order. You get three chances on each lift to hit a one rep max. At the end of the meet, the best lift from each are added up to form your total. Winners are based on Wilks scores, which factors in total, bodyweight, and gender. As of now there will be prizes for top 3 Wilks score.
Deadline
Submit lifts performed and filmed anytime between May 25-May 31. Since it would be difficult to get everyone to compete on the same weekend all submissions must be sent in by 5/31 at 11:59 P.M.
Equipment
- You can use a safety squat bar if you cannot use a regular bar for squatting. You can also use a deadlift bar if you have access to one.
- You can use iron or bumper plates for this competition. Pounds or kilos (everything will be converted to kilograms for the purpose of the Wilks Calculation).
- Lifters should wear either a singlet or skin-tight garment. Leggings are fine, but we need to be able to easily judge depth on squat, for example. This is difficult to do if someone is wearing loose clothing.
- You can use a belt, knee sleeves, knee wraps, wrist wraps, weightlifting shoes if you want. No briefs, squats suits, deadlift suits, bench shirts, or straps. Basically, we will allow USAPL/USPA approved stuff.
- For the deadlift, socks are aite. But if you happen to slip and drop the bar on your toes because you're doing a toes-to-bar sumo deadlift stance, you can't blame me!
- Film your lifts, upload to YouTube, and we'll get a couple of judges from the Exodus Strength forum to judge the quality of the lift.
- Film yourself weighing in on a scale the day of the meet to confirm your weight.
- You do not have to weigh yourself if you do not want to. However, you will not be eligible to win if you not weigh in!
1. Unrack the bar and walk it out.
2. Squat to depth, which is defined as the crease of the hip joint is below the top of the knee when viewed from the side.
3. Demonstrate control of the bar before reracking it.
4. You can use a monolift, a power rack, or even squat stands.
Red lights are given for: insufficient depth, or failure to complete the lift.
Bench
1. Butt and shoulders have to stay in contact with the bench the whole time.
2. Unrack the bar, you can use a lift-off if you like.
3. Lower the bar, and it has to touch your chest. It behooves you to convince the judges you touched your chest. If that means you pause the bench, you pause it. If you think you can convince the Junta judges that the bar touched your chest without a pause, great.
4. Pause at the lock-out position before re-racking it.
Red lights are given for lifter's butt leaves the bench, lifter does not complete the lift, or lifter fails to demonstrate control before re-racking the weight.
Deadlift
1. Pull however you want. Sumo, conventional, baby powder or not, whatever!
2. You have to pull the bar from the ground and lock out without any downward movement of the bar or hitching.
3. Demonstrate control before lowering the bar back to the ground. It behooves you to pause a bit at the top to convince the judges that you locked it out.
4. Lower the bar with control to the floor (don't drop it!)
5. No straps
Red lights are given for downward motion or hitching of the bar during the attempt, if the lifter does not complete the lift, or the lifter drops the bar. You could also get a no-lift if you didn't lock out fully (hips, knees, and shoulders!).
Attempts
- You get three attempts at your 1RM for each lift.
- You may put more weight on the bar, but not less. So if you fail a lift, you can try that weight again or try more.
- You can skip an attempt if you don't want to take it.
Winners of the lightweight, middle weight, and heavy weight divisions will get bragging rights, but prizes are given to the top 3 lifters by Wilks.
