Fuck yeah, man.cgeorgiev wrote: ↑Tue Jul 18, 2023 9:27 am I think that's a PR for squat, hoping to have 405 by the year. Finally surpassing my peak strength around 2017 when I was running Texas Method right before an injury that prevented squatting heavy for a few years. Feels good man. Bodyweight is about the same from that era, though with a far more favorable body composition now.

Album: Immortal - At the Heart of Winter
Competition Bench Press (1ct pause, +belt)
285 x 1 @ 8
235 x 5 x 5
3-0-0 Tempo Squat
240 x 5
250 x 5
260 x 5 x 4
Barbell Row
165 x 8
175 x 8
185 x 8 x 4
Programming for 3-0-0 squat called for a -5% load drop after first set of 5 @ 8, however I was able to maintain sets aross. I have a low stress week programmed for next week, but after I'll be pushing this lift a little more and see if I can eek out some progress.

Such a sick album. It was the first album I ever got from Amoeba records in Hollywood when I was 14. I'll be eyeing your log for some black metal recommendations.
Friday 7/28/23
Album: Einsturzende Neubauten - Halber Mensch
Competition Deadlift (conventional, hook-grip, beltless)
405 x 1 @ 8
330 x 5 x 5
TnG Bench
235 x 5
245 x 5
255 x 5
242.5 x 5 x 3
Leg Press
435 x 8
455 x 8
475 x 8 x 4
Sunday 7/30/23
Album: The Jesus Lizard - GOAT
Ab circuit for 3 rounds:
Ab Roller 30^3
Hanging Leg Raises: 10^3
Weighted Oblique Bends w/ 80# Dumbell: 12^3
Decline Sit-Ups: 10^3
7min EMOM lat pulldown
100 x 12 x 7
Dial is definitely moving and I'm just trying to ride the wave as long as I can. Deadlift has been feeling strong lately so I went for the 405 instead of the scheduled 5# jump. On Sunday I tried moving the bodybuilding stuff before doing cardio on the rower but it completely gassed my abs and I called it. Ab circuit is about the only thing of use I picked up in Jim Wendler's original 5/3/1 book, just scaled down as a mere mortal.

Monday 7/31/23
Album: The Cramps - Songs the Lord Taught Us
Competition Squat (LBBS, +belt)
365 x 1 @ 9
315 x 4 x 2
Competition Press (press 1.5 circa 2015, +belt)
185 x 1 @ 8-9
160 x 4 x 2
SG RDL
225 x 10
235 x 10
245 x 10 x 2
Not the greatest training session: fatigue and life stresss creeping in, currently scheduled as a low stress/pivot week. Top end strength on the singles felt like dog shit and degressing a little bit, but when I did the back off volume the % felt right on the money.

If you dig post Blizzard Beasts era Immortal generally, Rimfrost is the same thing but more awesome. Any record, but the self-titled is a fine place to begin.

Went to a show on Friday evening after work, and had to move Friday's session to Saturday. Bench seems to be exploding lately. My all time best bench was 300 @ RPE 11 around 2017 and I've been plateaued at 275 x 1 @ 8 for years. This was when I was benching 4 times a week, contrast to my current 2 times a week and so far I've put on almost 20# to my single @ 8.

Made my day. I dig few things more than someone else sharing in my enjoyment of something cool, and Rimfrost are very fucking cool.
Success with less frequent benching has been something of a trend in the logs these past few months.cgeorgiev wrote: ↑Tue Aug 08, 2023 4:28 pm Went to a show on Friday evening after work, and had to move Friday's session to Saturday. I’ve been in a very similar place - lifetime max of 295 (FML), stuck between 275-285 the past more than two years. I’ve been working a slow pyramid progression that I hope will take me to the promised land late this year.
